NCCU U-1650 Section Won by Lancashire

 

The NCCU inter-county team U-1650 championship for 2021-22 was decided on Sunday 17/04/2022 when Cumbria played at home to Lancashire.  This match meant Lancashire finished first, having won both their matches, and Yorkshire finished second having won one match, while Cumbria finished third.

Normally, the winner enters the ECF stages as “N1” and the second-placed as “N2”, but as this result was not known before the ECF quarter-final draw was made, Lancashire are down to play in the ECF quarter-final and Yorkshire are down to go straight through to the semi-finals, which is the reverse of how things would have been had the result been known in time.

 

It is of course hardly the fault of the ECF if the NCCU is too slow getting off the mark – but then there was that small matter of Covid which was slowing things down!
