08/12/2021 England v Rest of the World, Round 5
Round 5 of the “England v Rest of the World” Scheveningen tournament at the 2021 London Chess Classic was played on 8th December.
The team score after round 4 stood at England 5-7 Rest of World. Round 5 was a replay of round 2 but for the reversal of colours.

Meanwhile the others two games were still in play. In Adams v Vitiugov, black sacrificed a rook for two minor pieces and the game was soon agreed drawn, albeit in a position which at first sight was unclear to the amateur spectator. Meanwhile, Jones was successfully finishing of a lively sacrificial king’s side attack.
Fifth-round results were as follows:
That left the team score after round 5 standing at England 7-8 Rest of World, with the final round leaving everything to play for, for both teams.
