OTB 4NCL 2021-22,Weekend 1,
Rounds 1 & 2
Division 3 North
The
first weekend for Division 3, with its three regional sections, was held on
20th-21st November, with Division 1/2 due to start the following weekend,
when Gawain Jones is expected t head the Chessable White Rose 1 line-up.
Four Yorkshire-based teams number among the Division 3 entries, all playing
in Division 3 North, in which the first weekend was being held at the Holiday
Inn, Doncaster. With only 8 teams, there were only 4 matches.
Though
nominally a “non-Yorkshire” team, “Spirit of Atticus” fielded 4 Sheffield
& District Chess Association players (named below in italics in round 1)
among its 6 players!
In
round 1, the first nine game results to be reported from Yorkshire-based
teams’ matches were all wins for one side of the other. In round 2, Bradford
& DCA Knights B faced their A team, but Robert Dean ensured it was not a
whitewash. (Manchester Manticores 3 similarly faced their team 2, and in this
match Thisumi Jayawarna scored a draw for the underdogs.)
