25/02/2021 Rotherham Online Chess Rating-Limited Tournaments, Season 4
Peter Catt writes:
Modesty almost forbids me mentioning the results of the recently ended tournament...but not quite.
Barnby Dun's Peter Catt, who is also the Doncaster IM Brown captain, won the Premier section with 4½ out of 5, ahead of Chesterfield's Peter Ackley with 4 and Deji Jeje, from the Sheffield SASCA club, with 3½. The winner enjoyed a strong element of good fortune having benefited from a mouse slip by Deji in the first round, and was lost at one stage in three other games before surviving.
The Major section was won by London Deaf player Jordan Marchant on tie-break ahead of unattached Tony Botteley, both 4/5, and Sheffield Deaf's Steve Gibson, 3½.
Ecclesall's Colin Reid finished first in the Minor division on tie-break from Bradford's Simon Jones, both 4/5, and Hull's Jason Clemmey with 3½.
A total of 56 players took part in the three competitions, full lists of final results being as follows:
Entry for Season 5 is now open, see notice here.
