The Holmfirth Saga – Club and Pod League Stopped Again

The placing of Kirklees and Calderdale in the new ‘High’ risk category, with effect from Wednesday 14/10/2020, means that there can be no indoor meetings of mixed households, and hence the Holmfirth Pod League has had to grind to an abrupt halt, as has Holmfirth Chess Club, and indeed all other chess clubs as may be operating in High-risk areas.  The ‘Rule of 6’ is removed for indoor contacts and there is no exemption for social clubs – and it is hardly the weather for going al fresco!.

Steve Westmoreland does not anticipate any chance of resumption before March 2021 at the earliest (so don’t watch this space!), but he is poised to resurrect things as soon as permitted in law.
